Back in the '70s or maybe early '80s there was an aftermarket kit for installing a very streamlined body on a motorcycle. I think it was a Honda 750 but may have been adaptable to others as well. It converted the two wheel motorcycle into a four wheeler since the rider and passenger were totally enclosed by the body, there was no putting your foot down at a traffic light. I think it had a tilt up aircraft style canopy for entering/exiting. The two to four wheel conversion was done with what looked to be streamlined outrigger wheels with aircraft style wheel pants. The wheels really remind me of training wheels. Does anyone know who made these or if plans or kits are still available. The only thing I've found on the web is this canopy maker's website of the pulse autocar. I think this may be one of the kit bodies I'm thinking of. http://toddscanopies.com/tdpulse.htm In europe, it's popular to retrofit older motorcycles with small single cylinder industrial diesel engines of about 12 to 18 horsepower. These inexpensive chinese made clones of Yanmar diesel engines are starting to show up at places like northern tools and other discount hardware and tool stores. Harbor Freight will likely have them soon. In europe, when these engines are installed on ordinary 350 - 500 cc bikes yields about 120km/h to 150km/h top speed with about 2L diesel consumption per 100km at 90 km/h. (120 or so highway miles per gallon at about 57 mph). I think one of these bodies on a motorcycle converted this way could approach if not break 200mpg at 50-55 mph. And could be run on biodiesel or waste vegtable oil as well. Anybody have any information on such a body kit or scratch building from fiberglass plans for same? Thanks
