camry hybrid upgrades
« on: June 02, 2008, 05:13:29 PM »

I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid and get 35 to 42 MPG.  Is there a chip that may allow longer battery usage for the Camry like I see the Prius can get?

What are good habits to getting the best mileage?

I use my cruise control (2002 Prius) even at low speeds like 25-30mph.  I try to coast as much as possible and with the Prius when going downhill I try to push gently on the pedal to kick in the electric motor and gain a little speed for the uphill climb.  I'm getting fair mileage 48-50mpg by doing this.  My wifes 2008 Prius seems more efficient in all aspects, coasting, control of electric motor etc. and I have had hers upwards of 53-54mpg.  She trys to drive in the same manner although she may put her foot into it a little more.  She tends to get a solid 50mpg.

Good luck, it does take some practice and patience.  I'm still learning.  I've been doing it for a couple of months now.
